Dr. Leila El Bassi Ben Moussa, Assistant Professor in Borj-Cedria Ecopark Institute, Tunisia, received a poster award in the Environmental section of The Tunisia-Japan Symposium on Science, Society and Technology, 2013, (held at Hammamet, Tunisia from 15 Nov. to 18 Nov.) for her research entitled ‘Biodegradation of thiodiglycol by benzothiophene desulfurizing bacteria.’ This work was studied in her stay at the Center of Molecular Biosciences when she was in the Graduate school of Kagoshima university, showing the possibility of microbial remediation of thiodiglycol, a spontenious hydrolysate of a chemical weapon, Yperite.
